Searching for a job

Searching for a job in Denmark is not very different from searching for a job in other countries. Jobs can be found in different ways, for example:

  • Upload CV on a job database
  • Respond to specific job advertisements
  • Apply for a job at a specific company even if the company is not advertising
  • Register with a recruitment agency
  • Look for a job via your personal network – and via social media

Jobcenter Viborg

Jobcenter Viborg is your local job center and your central point of contact if you are unemployed and looking for a job. The Jobcenter can help you both if you are registered as unemployed or an accompanying partner looking for a job. As unemployed, you must register with the Jobcenter and upload you CV on the official site of the Danish employment service, jobnet.dk.

At the Jobcenter, you will be assigned a caseworker.

Trainee period

From the beginning of your unemployment (being eligible for unemployment or cash benefits or as an accompanying partner), you are eligible for a trainee period either in the private or public sector for a limited period. This is an opportunity for you to, e.g., try working in a new sector or gain new skills. People receiving unemployment benefit or cash benefit will continue to receive the same benefits during the trainee period. Contact Job Center Viborg for more information.

Job with wage subsidy

If you have been unemployed (being eligible for unemployment or cash benefits or as an accompanying partner) for more than 6 months, you are eligible for a job with wage subsidy either in the private or public sector for between 3 and 6 months depending on your situation and qualifications as well as the sector. A job with wage subsidy will give you work experience, the possibility to acquire new skills, strengthen or refresh existing qualifications, and an extended network which can be very helpful in finding a job.

Job for accompanying partner

The majority of the services provide by Job Center Viborg are also available to accompanying partners even though they are not registered as unemployed but are financially supported by their partners. Accompanying partners are for example eligible for the trainee period and job with wage subsidy.

Contact Mette Lorentzen for more information.
