The easiest way to pay for your journey on public transport is to get a Rejsekort. Rejsekort is a national electronic ticketing system for travelling by bus, train or metro that unites operators, travel zones, ticketing systems and discounted schemes into one common system. For more information on Rejsekort, go to rejsekort.dk.

To plan your journey, use the journey planner Rejseplanen or download the app, Rejseplanen.

The frequency of particularly local and regional busses varies a lot depending on the day of the week, time of year and day/evening so make sure to check the timetable.

Public transport

If you do not have a Rejsekort, a bus pass or a ‘klippekort’ (10 discounted single journeys), tickets can be bought on the bus (only cash), in the Midttrafik app or on Midttrafik’s webshop.

Bybusser serve Viborg city and surroundings, are yellow and have single digit numbers (for example 1).

Local busses serve smaller towns and villages within Viborg Municipality and have three-digit numbers (for example 750).

Regional busses cross municipal borders and normally connect cities and larger towns, are blue and have two-digit numbers (for example 62).

Some departures of some bus routes are so-called flexbusses. This means that the bus does not run unless you book it. Flexbus is a replacement for the ordinary bus which means that the stops are the ordinary bus stops on a particular bus route. For more information on Flexbus, see Flexbus (dial-a-ride bus).

If you do not have a Rejsekort or a train pass, tickets must be bought in advance either at a ticket office, from ticket machines at the stations, in the DSB app or on DSB’s website.

From Viborg there are direct trains to Aarhus, Skive and Struer.

Flextur is a means of public transport that you book in advance and which is available between 06.00 and 24.00. You can book a flextur from one address to another address of your own choice and you pay per km. A flextur must be booked minimum one hour in advance and you may be travelling with other people which means that the trip is likely to take longer than if you were travelling directly from A to B (you only pay for the direct route).

A number of flextur hubs have been established in Viborg and across the Central Denmark Region. A flextur between hubs is cheaper than from a specific address to another specific address.

You can book a flextur in Rejseplanen, in the Flextrafik app, on mittrafik.flextrafik.dk or by calling +45 87 87 40 83 (between 8.00 and 16.00).

For more information on Flextur, see Flextur (dial-a-ride trip).

A Plustur is a trip to or from a form of public transport where you will be driven from/to your address to/from a public transport stop. You need to book a Plustur in Rejseplanen minimum one hour before you need to leave. The trip is charged per km.

For more information on Plustur, see Plustur (dial-a-ride service).
