When you have finished 9th or 10th grade, next step is a general upper secondary education or a vocational education. Having completed an upper secondary education or a vocational education, it is possible to continue studying and enrolling on a bachelor’s programme, a professional bachelor’s programme or an academic profession programme. Your choice of education determines at which higher education programme, you can enrol. You can also choose to start your career by getting a job – especially if you have a vocational education.

Education and Career Guidance

From 7th to 10th grade, all pupils will receive guidance about the different kinds of educational and career paths they can take. They get to take part in different guidance activities at the school where some are organised in co-operation with the upper secondary educational institutions. All schools also have an education guidance counsellor from whom the pupils can seek individual guidance. The objective of the education guidance in lower secondary school is to help the pupils (and their parents) make the right choice when it comes to choosing an upper secondary education. The national institution Studievalg Danmark (Study and Career Guidance Denmark) provides guidance for young people and adults when it comes to choosing a higher or vocational education as well as in relation to career opportunities. There are seven regional guidance centres in Denmark and you can book an individual appointment with the centre in Central and West Denmark (Center Midt- og Vestjylland), which covers Viborg Municipality.
