If you wish to get married in Denmark, you can either have a church wedding or a civil wedding ceremony.

If you wish to have a civil wedding ceremony in Viborg Municipality, the ceremony can be performed in the Municipality’s official wedding ceremony room where a Viborg Municipality employee will perform the ceremony. To book a wedding ceremony, contact Citizen Service (Borgerservice) on +45 87 87 87 21.

If you would like to have your wedding at another location in Viborg Municipality, you need to make an appointment directly with one of the City Council members appointed as wedding registrars prior to submitting your marriage declaration.

If you wish to have a church wedding, you must contact the church, you wish to get married in, to find a date. The church can for example be your local church.

Well in advance of your wedding, you must complete a marriage declaration and submit it to Viborg Municipality.

If you and our spouse wish to separate or divorce, you must complete and submit an application to Familieretshuset (the Agency of Family Law). Depending on your situation, you can apply for legal separation, divorce after legal separation or divorce without prior separation.
