Involving yourself in your local community is a good way to meet your neighbours and Danes in general. Involvement can be many things. Activities and the possibilities to get involved are likely to differ from community to community.
The local sports clubs, scouts, community councils (for example lokalråd) and other local voluntary organisations are great places to meet people and it is also possible to help out at local events, become a member of the board of an association, become a coach, etc.
Taking part in local events or activities is a good way to meet neighbours and others living in your community. If you live in a town with a ‘forsamlingshus’ (like a community hall), they are often the centre of different local events. Depending on the ‘forsamlingshus’, this can for example be community dinners or brunches, Christmas parties, wine tasting, plays, concerts or talks. Local festivals (‘byfester’) take place in many of the towns and larger villages in Viborg Municipality. Programmes and activities will differ from ‘byfest’ to ‘byfest’ so keep an eye out for the programme for your local ‘byfest’ on local websites, local media, Facebook, flyers in shops, etc.
The ‘ejerforening’ (houseowners’ association) or ‘beboerforening’ (residents’ association) where you live may also organise different events for its residents.

Volunteering can be everything from helping out at your local sports club or at an event in your local community to sitting on the board of a local voluntary association, helping out at a municipal institution or at one of the major events in Viborg Municipality.
