Events - what's happening

Viborg Internationale Kirkemusikfestival – a week of concerts in the six Evangelican-Lutheran churches (folkekirker) in Viborg where the music ranges from Händel to gospel.

• Søndersøløbet – Viborg’s oldest running event with six different races around Søndersø.
• Lokaldysten – a competition between towns and villages in Viborg Municipality where the focus is community and physical activity through walking, running and cycling. The town or village that completes the most kilometres wins a prize.

• Snapsting – Viborg’s annual festival. During the Snapsting week, a lot of different events take place – concerts, cultural events, talks and happenings.
• Hærvejsløbet and L’etape Denmark – Denmark’s largest cycling relay (both road and mountain bike) with a total of six different routes. The longest starts in Flensburg.
• Hærvejsmarchen – an international two-day walking event that takes you through the streets of Viborg and the beautiful landscape around Viborg depending on which route you register for. It is the only IML (International Marching League) recognised march in Denmark.
• Classic Race Viborg – three days where Viborg is turned into the epicentre of motor sports with more than 300 classic cars, different races, a variety of activities and live music.
• Karup Å-festival – a ‘hyggelig’ music festival in Karup with Danish bands and artists.
• Forever (from 2025) – major two-day international music event with international rock and pop artists.
• Bjerringbro Kulturfestival - a week crammed with cultural experiences and activities such as sing alongs, music and concerts, physical activities, water activities, exhibitions, activities for children and much more.
• Free concerts – each Saturday in June there is a free concert on one of the squares in Viborg City Centre.

Generation Handball – an international handball tournament (both indoor and outdoor) for youth teams (10 – 21 years) from different countries that takes place the last week in July/the first week in August.

• Nordic Lake Festival – a two-day outdoor sports and culture event for children and adults with different running and cycling competitions, concerts and socialising.
• Vejrumbro Open Air – two-day music festival with Danish artists and bands in Vejrumbro.
• Tange Sø Festival – one-day music festival with large Danish bands and artists by Tange Sø.
• Fyrfest – one-day music festival with large Danish bands and artists in Viborg.

• Viborg Animation Festival (VAF) – the largest international animation festival in Denmark which celebrates animation’s many possibilities - showcasing that animation is not just entertainment but also art, craft, learning, teaching and science dissemination.
• Vibstock Festival – one-day music festival for young people presenting a lineup of Danish artists who represent the best within new and inspiring music.
• Houlkær by Heart – three days filled with cultural activities in Houlkær.

Jul i Viborg – Viborg’s annual Christmas celebration. Throughout December, there is a cozy Christmas Market at Nytorv with craft and food stalls and different concerts and events take place around Viborg.
