The perfect place for investing in green tech and agriculture

Whether you are a business start-up, a company spin-out, a well-established company, a research institution or an investor within the green tech sector, Viborg offer unique business opportunities.

Viborg is one of the largest agricultural municipalities in Denmark. Fields are not only used for agricultural production since multiple renewable energy plants (solar, biogas, wind) have been established and much more are on the way (including hydrogen, PtX, green biorefinery and more).

Viborg and the Central Denmark Region offer access to a vast and highly qualified green tech workforce both within research, development and production.

Multiple green tech companies, both SMEs and multinationals, are located in the region. Almost all companies have a tradition of co-operating with research institutions, other Danish and foreign companies and public authorities to develop new and green solutions.

In recent years, Aarhus University has invested heavily in new research facilities and in September 2024, three new master educations in Animal Science, Plant and Food Science or Veterinary Medicine start at the university’s Viborg campus.

Green hands and minds

Denmark's largest agricultural school, Asmildkloster Landbrugsskole is located in Viborg. Together with the vocational educational institution Mercantec and the Technology Management and Marine Engineering bachelor education at Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering’s campus in Viborg, they are the suppliers of education and skills that are necessary within the green transition and production and thus educate green hands and minds of the future. Both Asmildkloster Landbrugsskole and Mercantec are UNESCO-certified world-class schools.

Viborg also hosts the annual event Grønne Sammen (Green Together), which has the goal to inspire and mobilise citizens and pupils to change climate behaviour in everyday life. Activities and events are created in partnerships between the municipality, companies, associations and institutions.
